A Loyal Heart

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…”

2 Chronicles 16:9

Is your heart loyal to God? Is it completely with Him?

King Asa was doing well during his reign. And when a great army of 1million+ attacked his smaller army, he sought God. He said from his own mouth, “Help us for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude…” (2Chron.14:11)

But the truth of the matter was that he only rested on him on the big matters. It was because this problem seemed too big for him to handle, that he went straight to God and rested in Him.

Do we go to God on matters that seem too big for us to handle? We ought to!

Nevertheless, the real question at hand is about the smaller matters. Like King Asa, when we think we can figure something out for ourselves, when we think that we can rely on the people around us or the system around us, do we neglect God? Because this is the problem. This is foolish.

Is your heart loyal to God? Is it complete toward Him?

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…” 2 Chronicles 16:9

A loyal heart is one that trusts God in everything. A loyal heart acknowledges God in ALL their ways so that He can direct their path. A loyal heart trusts in the Lord completely and leans not to their own understanding. This is what God is looking for us to do. Not figure things out and then go to Him as our last option, but He wants to be our first option. This is what loyalty looks like.

Could you imagine being married to someone and then when you have a problem or an issue, instead of coming to you, they go to their ex first? Like how would that make you feel? Isn’t that curious, absurd, and highly disrespectful? Isn’t that disloyal?

Or imagine you have a child that has a problem in your home and goes and tries to get help from his friend’s parent before coming to you…

Surely God is not pleased when we claim to be loyal to Him and we go to other sources for our fulfillment and problems. But not only that, we totally miss out on what He can do for us!

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…” 2 Chronicles 16:9

God is ready to show Himself strong. He is ready to do exceedingly abundantly all we can ask or think. He is ready to deliver and bless. He is watching and waiting to give us the best life we can ever imagine. He wants the best for us! He wants more for us! But how often we fail to really trust Him? How often do we fail to really set our affections on Him?

Why is our heart so incomplete? Why is our loyalty still divided? For what reason? Why are we still lukewarm? Why are we still on the borderline? Why are we still holding back? What sense does it make?

Pride is foolish. Trusting in ourselves is foolish. The desire to run one’s life and be in control is foolish. God is in control. And it is His good pleasure to give us the Kingdom. Fear not little flock! He came so that we would have Life and Life more abundantly! Fear not! Let us trust in the Lord! Let our hearts be complete in Him and not still loading, not still waiting and looking for something better. There is no one better! There is nothing better! Let our hearts be loyal to God!
